چکیده

We present a numerical solution of the natural convection from inclined wall plumes which arise from a line thermal source imbedded at the leading edge of an adiabatic plate with arbitrary tilt angle between 0 and n/2, and embedded in a fluid-saturated porous medium. An appropriate transformation of the governing boundary-layer equations is proposed and a very efficient novel numerical solution is proposed to obtain rigorous numerical solutions of the transformed nonsimilar equations over a wide range of tilt angle from the vertical to the horizontal. Graphs are presented showing the effect of the tilt angle on the velocity and temperature profiles, as well as on the wall velocity and wall temperature. As far as we know, this problem has not yet been studied in the available literature. Nomenclature G f g K L Q R. Using Lattice Boltzmann Method to Investigate the Effects of Porous Media on Heat Transfer from Solid Block inside a Channel

A numerical investigation of forced convection in a channel with hot solid block inside a square porous block mounted on a bottom wall was carried out. The lattice Boltzmann method was applied for numerical simulations. The fluid flow in the porous media was simulated by Brinkman-Forchheimer model. The effects of parameters such as porosity and thermal conductivity ratio over flow pattern and t...

Finite element analysis of double-diffusive natural convection in a porous triangular enclosure filled with Al2O3-water nanofluid in presence of heat generation

The problem of double-diffusive natural convection of Al2O3 -water nanofluid in a porous triangular enclosure in presence of heat generation has been studied numerically in this paper. The bottom wall of the cavity is heated isothermally, the left inclined wall is non-isothermal and the right inclined wall is considered to be cold. The concentration is higher at bottom wall, lower at right incl...

Pore scale simulation of solute transport in fractured porous media

[1] We investigate the effects of the porosity (and thus permeability) of porous matrix and the fracture aperture on transport in fractured porous media. We do so with detailed lattice Boltzmann simulations on constructed porous media with a single fracture. Both plume spatial moments (the average plume velocity and the dispersion coefficients) and mass transfer coefficients between the facture...

Numerical simulation of natural convection in an inclined porous cavity under time-periodic boundary conditions with a partially active thermal side wall

Natural convection in an inclined porous cavity with positively or negatively inclined angles is studied numerically for time-periodic boundary conditions on the left side wall and partially active thermal boundary conditions on the right wall. The results show that a partially active thermal boundary condition on wall B can lead to heat transfer between two opposing vertical side walls. Temper...

An Analysis on Groundwater Recharge by Mathematical Model in Inclined Porous Media

The present paper discusses the analysis of solution of groundwater flow in inclined porous media. The problem related to groundwater flow in inclined aquifers is usually common in geotechnical and hydrogeology engineering activities. The governing partial differential equation of one-dimensional groundwater recharge problem has been formed by Dupuit's assumption. Three cases have been discusse...
